From bbc.co.uk - A significant amount of beef sold in pubs and restaurants as "local" or "British" actually comes from abroad, a BBC investigation has found.

Highclose Farm shop and PYO, is a great shop in many ways, its varied produce is of excellent quality, It has a good selection of homemade items, and a great coffee shop. The PYO is great in the summer, and they have very friendly staff, It has recently undergone some extension and caters great for kids. It may seem a little pricey but the quality is worth it and you feel you get something extra, than a normal farm shop.
GS Fruits is one of the best in the area, sourcing local food where possible and has a directive to reduce the carbon miles on its produce. The quality is excellent, the choice is good, it has a seasonal approach to its boxes and its really good value for money. They have good customer services and will go that extra mile for the customer. I have tried others in the area and although they are good, GSfruits has the edge.
A newly relocated and refurbished shop specialising in Organic and, where possible, locally sourced produce, they have a wide range of groceries available for reasonable prices; they're currently doing an Organic Lamb promotion. The shop has also just started a small in house cafe.
Other stock includes Wines/Beers, household products, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Meats include Venison, seasonal Game such as Pheasant as well as the usual Beef and Lamb. The proprietor is a very pleasant and interesting young guy who really wants to make a success of this venture.
They are located on East Burnside, Cupar right opposite the end of the Lady Wynd. Go visit, it's well worth a look!
Teresa makes her own fresh pasta sauces. They are absolutely beautiful. My favourites are Buffalo Bolognese, Wild Boar and Porcini Mushroom and Napolitana with tuna. There are several other varieties to choose from and they are all delicious. Simply heat and add to your favourite pasta. Teresa will always recommend what to try, and when she does the local farmers markets there are always samples to try. Just perfect.
We used River Nene a couple of years ago, and found them to be good value with a good selection of fruit and veg (we had a mixed fruit and veg delivery). They were always on time, and drivers were always courteous.
I beleive they did have some quality control issues a few years ago which are now sorted.
Even though it was pouring with rain when I first went, this place was truly wonderful. I bought a xmas tree and a newfoundland dog pulled it on a trailer to my car. Very xmassy!
But in summer it is even better, and to eat outside al fresco, the stunning food, was a real treat. There is such a lot to choose from and always a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
The shops are well stocked with excellent quality unusual items, i could go on and on and on!!
If you go here, you will spend a fortune,....not because it is expensive, but because there is so much to tempt you, and you just won't be able to go home empty handed!!
Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and helpful cooking tips avaliable from all staff. Not only do they sell the best steak and pork chops i have ever tasted they also sell locally produced fruit and veg. Good stock of free range chickens, eggs and ducks, cheese and cooked meats. There is also a bakery on site - also the best freshly cooked on site custards i have ever tasted too. You can view the chickens, ducks, pigs, goats etc as you drive from the entrance gate to the car park. I highly recommend the chilli sausages!!
