Hello, I’m Reggie and I’m the voice of local food. That's because I’m your voice. When you Reggie-ster (sorry) on this site, you will be able to get involved in helping promote and share what's great and sometimes, what's not so great about the food that's produced and sold around you. And, by shopping locally, with local suppliers you will also help the local economy.
High quality grass fed meats from the local farmers in the village of Northmoor plus locally shot game all end up in Colin's wonderful pies with a proper home made pastry crust, served up with a wide selection of freshly cooked local vegetables. Colin will also cook you some hare, devilled kidneys and sausage and mash featuring pigs that live the good life in a field behind my cottage. The beer is good and the old pub, warmed by a proper open fire, has escaped the modernisation that has ripped the character out of so many of our locals. An authentic local pub run by a lovely family who are really at the heart of our community.
Range - a bit unusual in that these guys primarily deal with a box scheme so the shop is a bit more like a warehouse in some respects. A good range of veg and some lovely bread too. Prices - I felt the prices were very reasonable for top qulaity organic veg. Ease of finding - A little out of the way but finding it was helped by a large sign at a crucial junction, parking is okay as you draw up at the front of the premises. Service - service with a smile, what lovely people. I am keen on good service so am giving an all round egg-celent :-)
Was not sure what to make of this place, and as this is my first review, and was also my first visit to this local food supplier I will try to be as objective as possible. OK - range of goods I thought was pretty good. Prices - I thought very high, even in comparison to other specialist shops I felt it was on the extremely pricey side. Ease of finding - It's easy enough to find, although has a restricted entranceway (one car at a time) so would not want to be there when it was busy. Service - This is a little awakeard as I clearly caught them at a bad time as a row was going on in the back room, this was embarassing and more than a little awkward. The young guy serving me was clearly also embarassed as he could obviously hear it too - very awkward.
I live in York and ordered using the online order form. At 5:30pm on the day of delivery I called as the box had not yet arrived. The number listed here and on their website didn't work, I had to search and found this mobile number: 07769 704677.
I was told that they had refunded me as they did not deliver to York, even though it stated on their website that they do and gave the delivery day. They did not bother to call to let me know this and I was left having to make an evening supermarket trip when that's where I'm trying to avoid shopping.
Bought some Cleveland bangers from Burtons Bangers stall outside BHS in Middlesbrough Town Centre yesterday. OMG they are the best i have ever tasted, no shrinkage when cooked and hardly any fat from them, carn't wait to try the others flavours plus their bacon too :) I may even have to start having them delivered on a regular basis. I will be telling all my family and friends. I highly recommend them
