Recently had our third trip to River cottage (which was unsurpassable as usual)- and also to the Axminster store. The store was dissapointing this time around.. arrived half an hour before closing to find the fresh food counter & veg had been cleared away, prepacked bacon & chicken had run out- we just managed to buy herby sausages and free range eggs for breakfast the next day. Tasted good though.
Found this place on a weekend away. - bought bacon and eggs (sourced from the farm), local chocolate fudge cake, ham, onion marmalade, fruit & veg and blue vinnie cheese. All were excellent. Must go back to try the cafe.....
What a delight. This farm shop sells a wide variety of produce and is proactive in enlarging their range, along with excellent customer service and an onsite chef. Only last week we bought local stichelton cheese, lamb from the estate, butchers own mix sausage, dry cured bacon, and Notinghamshire free range Peckam chicken......
We have had a weekly family veg box for aprox 1 year now. Red Earth have never let us down, always plenty of tasty seasonal veg and good value. Have also had eggs and bread in the past. Red Earth are happy to change the order as required - eg when we had no tatties for a few months while we ate our own grown. They get a big thumbs up from us!
