We found this butcher's while hiking from Briggswath to Whitby. The meat looked so good we couldn't resist popping in to buy - not something we had ever been tempted to do before, bearing in mind the additional weight we then had to carry. However, every excess ounce was worth it. We couldn't buy a lot but the lamb chops and steaks were "melt in the mouth" delicious - and we plan on visiting again this summer on our next trip to Whitby.
Definitely worth a small detour for anyone visiting the usual sightseeing places like Whitby, Goathland, Grosmont, etc.
Sometimes the gammon is a little salty (always soak well before use), but the lamb, chicken, sausage and game are all excellent - and the beef and steaks really are to die for. I cannot remember tasting sirloin like that ever before.
Good selection of meat on show but they also cut and mince to order.
Once you have tried Dropswell's meat you find it difficult buying from other butchers. Excellent farm shop all round.
