We popped in to the deli on a conld saturday morning, it was full of amazing local and worldwide cheeses (we bought a couple). Then decided to have lunch in the cafe which was delicious, sweet potato, butternut squash and bean soup, with a bread roll and chunk of cheese. Just what I needed for a cold autumn lunch. I would recomend this to others :)
The Caban is a restaurant and cafe open from 9am to 4pm and also has special evening events most Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with good garden views. Their website describes what they do perfectly as a "sensible line between organic, locally produced and fair-trade ingredients. The on-site kitchen garden produces fresh ingredients using our own labour". What they forget to say is the food is absolutely delicious!
I have been there for lunch, the tomato and 3 bean soup was rich and warming, and the organic vegan chocolate mint cake (with real mint) was divine. I strongly recommend the Caban to everyone. Reasonable price too!
Stafford house delicatessent is a breath of fresh air in a small village with 3 Indians 2 Chineeses and a fish and chip shop! It has a great range of cured meats, interesting cheeses, delicious quiches, chutney's, pastas and always a devine new and cake or dessert to try. The only down side is that it can be a little pricy. Give it a try though.
