Always found Abel & Cole very reliable and very fresh. getting their flyer through the door was perhaps the first time i'd really heard about organic box schemes and they've never failed to deliver(on all fronts).
I felt a bit out of place when I took my family here for breakfast as the avergage person seemed to frequent the same table and were a bit older than myself(by about 40 years). The decor too was quite 'traditional'.
However, the atmosphere warmed while we ate and the breakfast I had was simply delicious. Their dishes are made from carefully selected ingredients, whenever possible from local suppliers, and prepared on the premises and they serve specials featuring fish and seafood, much of it from local fisherman.
Sometimes a restaurant in a smaller town simply achieves legendary status and Gino's is one of them. Guaranteed a great evening, good authentic food and a nice atmosphere.
Everyone in town seems to rave about Gino's and to be honest, you can go and spend mega bucks in Brighton but you'll get just as nice an experience here.
Visited recently and had a great day. picked up some lovely easter gifts from the shop and some meat which has proved to be excellent. A great day out.
In 1998 Common Cause set up a Farmers' Market in Lewes, one of the first in the country. At Farmers' Markets, local producers sell food that they have grown, raised or processed themselves. At the Lewes market, produce comes from Sussex. Priority is given to small-scale producers who work in a way that cares for the environment and animal welfare.
The best dressed crab i've ever had! The brothers that run this Fishmongers are very friendly and helpful and real faces around town. They will dress you a local crab while you wait and the taste is out of this world. The alternative is to buy one in a packet in the supermarket across the road - no thanks!
This health food shop is special. It has a fantastic range of fresh and quite diverse local and seasonal veg. It also has eggs, bread etc. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable and i've never seen a better health food shop.
