My First visit to this place was inspired by the television programme in which Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall explained the Life cycle of a Cheap Chicken.... you may have seen it. Following on from that I tried to buy a Free Range chicken from my local supermarket in Derby. Guess What... sold out... not only in Derby but Buxton, Belper, Ripley Matlock and Bakewell. I then decided to give my support to his campaign by signing up to it via the web. It was here that I discovered FREERANGE REVIEW.Com, consequently, I then discovered HEARTHSTONE FARM SHOP. That very day I decided to pay it a visit. Off I drove only a short distance from my home to find a rather small Farm shop. However, looked around in the chiller cabinet and made a selection of Organic Gloucester Old Spot Pork chops, steaks and bacon and in the freezer cabinet I found some organic Beef Burgers with Horseraddish. I even selected a few fresh vegetables which looked absolutely delicious. Made my purchase from a really friendly lady there who was the mother of the lady of the ran the shop.We had a lovely chat and off I went home again to try my purchases...... OUT OF THIS WORLD is one thing I can say about the meat sold from this small farm shop. So tasty, fresh, moist, tender and flavoursome are some other words i would not hesitate to use. I just cant believe the texture of the Beef Burgers and as for the Bacon - ummmmm.... I will be visiting this little gem more often and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone wishing to have REAL MEAT. (Oh how my supermarket meat days are numbered). I know it costs a little more but knowing the livestock used for this meat have had a Happy, unintensified life plus the fact that the shop keepers actually care and know about their products and where they have come from, and the fact that the meat tastes really great, gives me a feeling of inputting into a more caring food chain. Thanks for that. ps, they also sell great chicken!
