Wide range of Fairtrade, organic, vegan/vegetarian and special diet goods. Notable for the sheer breadth of products stocked from the Suma (http://www.suma.coop/) range of products, but also for stocking Essential Trading, Ecover household products and Faith in Nature toiletries. Well worth a visit and well worth supporting.

Clevedon's Farmers' Market happens on the fourth Saturday of every month on Queen's Square.

Located behind the Winter Gardens and the Sovereign Centre, this farmers' market takes place every second Saturday of the month from 9am to 12.30pm. There's generally a good showing of suppliers including fresh meat, dairy, baked goods and ciders and apple juices. The market has always tended to be a little light on fresh fruit and veg but this is easily remedied by heading to the local greengrocers.

Not just a fruit and veg shop. Tucked away up the back is a range of organic store cupboard ingredients, including a range of Suma products. Look out for Rose Farm chutneys and jams and Carley's pesto in the chiller cabinet.

Excellent range of sandwiches with home cooked fillings. The jacket potatoes are particularly good - oven cooked and served with coleslaw and salad with dressing.

Nice selection of sandwich fillings, cookies and smoothies. A lot of the food is hand made on the premises, including home baked hams and soups.

Murrays, formerly the Olive Garden, is a real treasure trove and is everything you want from a local store, situated on Hill Road in Clevedon which is everything you want from an independent High St.

They stock a wide range of products from local and organic basics to imported authentic Italian, Spanish and French ingredients. The home-made pesto is particularly good.

The main reason I would recommend this store however is the quality of service you receive. I once asked for advice on the best flour to use for making pasta and received half an hour's expertise for free.

Great selection of traceable and well-hung meat, mind boggling fresh fish counter and they have just about any weird and wonderful ingredient you never realised you needed but on seeing it immediately want to experiment with.

Puxton stocks a comprehensive selection of food sourced locally and from across the south west. Fresh fruit and veg, dairy, dried and canned goods (including Suma range), deli, butchers, bakery, confectionery and a smaller selection of frozen goods and drinks. There's also a restaurant on-site and a separate play barn and family attractions.
