I live in Suffolk but phoned The Ginger Pig for advice one day - they were so kind and very helpful. I plan to visit and buy lots when I visit relatives in the area (soon) - can't wait!
One of my favourite shops! First class service by highly skilled, traditional fishmongers. Wonderful products, well kept and fresh as could be. The frozen range is truly stunning. If you don't visit them when you're in the area, you are missing out on a treat!
These people are so hard working and pleasant. You have to admire Jimmy who, despite being a 'Sleb" farmer, works really hard and produces ethical food in an interesting and educational way, with real openness.
The people you see on the TV are real. They work there every day and Jimmy is sometimes there and is as approachable as you would imagine.
Obviously, the sausages are brilliant! A little on the pricey side - but mouthwateringly good. (But there are many other lovely things in the shop and they have a farmer's market every month that is welll worth visiting).
Despite the fact that they can't spell the word "Combined" in the profile above, I still love them and would recommend them to everyone!
This is THE most excellent fishmonger I have ever encountered. The extensive range of local-caught and imported fish. The staff are marvellous - helpful and honest - giving excellent service and, in my case, education! They have wonderful recipes and a wide range of ethically produced products. The shop is an alladin's cave of wonders; try the wild salmon - second to none! Their shellfish range is wide and everything is as fresh as can be. Try not to take a shopping list - there will be wonderful "very good today" advice and products that you will have trouble choosing from - why not buy them all, like I do! All round 5 Star in these unlikely surroundings.
