Named for its location on Coleridge Street in Poet’s Corner, the Ancient Mariner is a large, stylish and family-friendly pub with a loyal following of regulars. Sarah and Simon head up a few recent arrivals among the staff, but despite the new faces, the atmosphere and feel remain true to that for which the pub has long been known and loved. One noteworthy change, however, is in the kitchen, now in the hands of Bob The Sausage, the man responsible for the famous banger-and-mash menus at the Shakies and the St George - although as well as a mammoth selection of his trademark sausages, the menu here includes burgers, ciabattas and a cracking Sunday roast. All food is homemade using top-notch ingredients, and meat is locally sourced and free-range wherever possible. To the rear is a heated, semi-covered beer garden, complete with eye-catching wave mosaic, while the sun-trap decking across the front further contributes to the pub's popularity as a summer hangout.
Caws Cenarth - Abercych
I've purchased several varieties of cheese produced by Caws Cenarth, and all have been excellent! The Leek and White Wine mature cheese is to die for!!!.
