Borough Market is London’s oldest food market. It was established on the south bank of the Thames when the Romans built the first London Bridge. It has occupied its present site for 250 years.
Borough has a long and distinguished history as a wholesale fruit and vegetable market - wholesale trade takes place every night except Saturday from 2am – 8am.
Borough Market is my favourite spot in London to visit on a Saturday morning. The crowds are a bit daunting, but the food and vendors and environment always make up for it. A fantastic place to bring visiting friends and family too!
Borough Market is wonderful! They have a vast selection of fruits, veg, meats, etc... In addition, it's a wonderful place to grab a bite! I love doing my weekly shopping there.
Borough Market is an excellent place to go, whether it's because you want to pick up something exciting for an evening meal or if you just want something yummy for lunch. Go on Thursday's or Friday's for the best variety of food. I especially like the Ostrich burgers - really tasty lean meat in a burger bun with all the trimmings!
A visit to Borough Market is a must for all foodies. I now work very close by and Friday is the highlight of the week wandering through the huge variety of stalls deciding what to cook at the weekend. Some stalls are pricey but shop around and you can find some real bargains particularly on fruit and vegetables
