Due South has always been a very special Brighton restaurant, with a between the piers beachfront location, quirky Victorian archway setting, and beachside terrace with perfect people watching potential and stunning views out to sea.
But what really sets it apart is its insistence on meticulously sourcing the very finest in seasonal, organic and free range ingredients from the independent producers and suppliers of Sussex. It's a real showcase for local foodstuffs and 80 percent of the menu comes from within a 35 mile radius of the beach. The menu changes monthly to reflect the seasonal availability of produce, with this month's menu featuring dishes including Ox tail terrine with smoked horseradish and homemade toasted bread, Crispy leg of wild mallard with salsify chips & a watercress salad, and Golden syrup sponge pudding with a handmade clotted cream ice cream amongst the selection of mouth watering desserts.
In 2005, it became the only venue on the beach licensed to hold weddings and civil partnership ceremonies, as well as offering business breakfasts and a private dining area, plus an extensive outside catering service, providing wedding banquets, canapé parties and private at-home dining. After a string of awards and accolades, it was named "Best Seaside Restaurant in Britain" by the Observer Food Monthly magazine and recently won the Sustainable Business Award at the Sussex Business Awards.
