Dunn's of Crouch End is owned by Christopher Freeman and his wife Christina. Christopher is a fifth generation baker. His great-great-Grandfather Robert Freeman came down from Brackley, Northamptonshire in 1820 on a
Hay Wagon and started work as a baker in South Grove, Highgate. He started the first Freeman family business
on Highgate Hill in 1827. Christopher and Christina Freeman live in Crouch End are pleased to be part of the local community and to be able to support many initiatives.
Crouch End's much-loved bakery Dunn's is a real local institution. On the same site since 1840 and run by a fifth-generation local baker, Dunn's does things the old-fashioned way and is justly popular for it. They use as locally-sourced flour as can be found (open fields of wheat being a rarity in N8) for their wide range of breads. It might not be a chi-chi artisan baker, but we can't all stretch to £3.50 for a loaf of bread, can we?
