I absolutely love this market - by far the best one I've ever been to. A fantastic range of products:local rapeseed oil, herbal soaps, fruit liquers; a potato crisp stall (cooked to order!); stoats porridge bar; a hog roast as well as the usual meat, veg and dairy products. Just brilliant. Only downside: its very, very easy to spend an absolute fortune so my advice is to make a budget and stick to it! This produce is more expensive than your supermarket groceries but 99% of the time the quality justifies the extra cost.

We travel in as a family a couple of times a month to stock up on supplies - great range and always very busy. Normally buy lunch to go too from the splendid selection on offer.

A plentiful selection of delicious home produce brought into the city by local farmers from Scotland and Northern England. With the outstanding backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, Castle terrace is lined with around 50 market stalls each selling either their own produce such as Venison, Angus Steaks, Organic Baking, Fish, Jams, Chutneys, eggs and cider! A particular favorite of mine is the Pie Stall, North Country Lass, specializing in Game pies, perfect pastry crammed full of perfect fillings.

If its hungry work being surrounded by food, you can always tuck into some of the produce cooked for you on site, a Hog Roast, an Ostrich burger or some tasty porridge perhaps!

Being a country girl now in the city, I was always hesitant of the city farm markets but this has changed my opinion for the better
