A traditional hill farm at 1200ft near Buxton. We breed pedigree middle white pigs and white park cattle amongst our other varied livestock. From mid February we will have pedigree bred middle white pork available for local delivery as half pigs for the freezer. All our middle whites are bred on the farm and reared in a traditional manner in small friendly happy groups. We can also courier 1/2 pig to your door (if you aren't local). We do full lambs too, all reared traditionally on grass.
Karen from Heathylee House Farm very kindly delivered our 1/2 pig last week ,and I have to say Sunday lunch was the best pork we had ever tasted with excellent crackling ! we are looking forward to trying out loads of porky recipes ,the reputation of the meat is well deserved .and the sausages where gorgeous .
My family and I have visited the farm and seen the way the pigs are raised and have been highly impressed by the care and welfare ,in fact we where so impressed we have just taken delivery of a lamb too and are looking forward to putting that to the taste test , no more supermarket meat for us . Keep up the good work Karen and Roy we certainly wont be going anywhere else for our meat in future!!
My whole pig (1/2 for me, 1/2 for friends) arrived on Saturday morning at the time promised. Well butchered, lots, and i mean lots of sausages. Bellies left alone so i can make bacon - just by drying with salt. Excellent service that allows you to get your hands dirty as much as you want. So, if you want to do a hugh and do it all you can, but you can also have it as you like, butchered and ready for the freezer. Lots of proper fat on the animal, it looks like real meat. Will use again once we've eaten down our stock.
I today collected my non butchered half pig from the butchers and cut it up "River Cottage (Ray Smith) Style"
We cooked the "bones" and had a piece of the meat for dinner, and had some crackling.
Absolutely delicious.
The service by Karen and the butchers is excellent.
I took delivery of half a pig from this farm in December. The pork is unbelieveable ! I have never tasted pork so delicious and the crackling is real !!! I will definitely be ordering my next half pig off Roy and Karen.
