Set in the heart of Montpelier near Bristol City centre, The One Stop Thali Cafés permanent site has become something of a Bristol institution. Since its early days on the festival circuit the Thali Café has sort to offer truly authentic Indian street food as served in India's Dhabas (road side cafes).
We have no menu as such, the Punjabi chef specialises in Thalis combinations of traditional complementary dishes served on a steel plate. The Thali changes day to day using the freshest ingredients.
We are bombarded by people wanting to book the whole restaurant for special events. Its cozy size (capacity 35) and warm atmosphere make it perfect for small parties.
If you fancy a night in we offer a pioneering takeaway scheme. The Tiffin Takeaway club members receive a beautifully insulated stainless steel thali carrier, keeping food piping hot. For our 2000 members this is proving a viable alternative to throw away packaging.
The Café has had both local & national critical acclaim. But the praise we find most important is that of Bristolians who voted it their favourite restaurant of the year in our opening year and have supported us ever since.
The Thali Cafe in Montpelier is a delight to visit. It is very liberating not having a set menu and it always encourages me to try things I might not have tried otherwise. The food is great value and great quality and the cafe has a unique and welcoming atmosphere.
