Roots Farm Shop & Cafe is the new addition to a mixed dairy and arable farm at East Rounton, near Northallerton in North Yorkshire. The Farm Shop was born through the need to improve the sustainability of the business and the enthusiasm of the family’s next generation; cousins Barry and Katherine.
Word of mouth has brought customers here since it opened last year, and it's almost too good to be true. Fantastic local meat in the shop including home cured bacon and tasty sausages. The cafe serves the best afternoon tea around; you'll need to walk it off (public footpath over the road). Especially recommended: giant scones with local clotted cream and jam, sticky chocolate brownies, yummy meringues. Fairtrade foods for sale.
