A fabulous food shop based on 4 principles - local food, supporting small scale producers, only selling rare breed meat and ensuring all the animals are outdoor and well cared for. Winners of 2005 and 2006 RSPCA Good Business Award for their commitment to animal welfare. People come from far and wide to buy their wonderful rare breed pork pies and sausages (including gluten free). Gary Rhodes said their sausages were the best he'd ever tasted. Read Giles Coren's review of the pork pies by downloading the article from the Samphire website. Mail order available.
Not cheap but oh is it worth it! The best chicken you will ever eat, wonderful sea lavendar honey that tastes of the sea, the fruitiest ice cream and , if you are really lucky, the richest little bantam eggs from the owner's own chooks. With just a few choice pieces of cookware (handmade chopping boards and local earthenware) to tempt you.
As well as being located in an outstandingly beautiful setting, which makes for a wonderful visit, Samphire also delivers locally for small charge. I have found this feature fabulous as I live in the United States now and have had a box of Samphire goodies delivered as a gift to a close relative. Not only is the produce outstanding, but the customer service and attention is second to none. I highly recommend support of this fabulous business.
Wonderful shop - I buy all my meat from Samphire as I have complete confidence in their high standards of animal welfare which is evidenced by the superb taste!
Try the sausages and the hogget.....fantastic .
Lots of really nice home made cakes which they make in their own kitchen and other good quality locally produced vegetables and products.
Great place and really friendly people. Genuine local food often produced from Karen and Jeff's own smallholding. It's clear they care deeply about animal welfare and that's why I am happy to buy all my meat from them. Keep up the good work.
Dave Giles Butcher - Bristol
A very friendly and helpful local butcher who sells excellent local and organic meat, as well as traditional farmhouse cheeses, free range eggs and a range of local preserves and chutneys.
