One of East Anglia’s oldest commercial vineyards producing a range of white, red and rosé wines. There is no admission charge to the vineyard and you are welcome to wander, picnic and relax amongst the vines. A great place to watch the seasons change. Dogs are welcome on leads and there is a children's play area.
Shawsgate is one of East Anglia’s oldest commercial vineyards producing a range of white, red and rosé wines from seven different grape varieties, and is perhaps best known for its Bacchus dry wine which has consistently won national and international awards over the last five years.
Shawsgate make their own wine on site as well as producing wine for several other East Anglian vineyards. The winery itself was built in the late 80s and is equipped with over 300 stainless steel tanks based on a New Zealand model.
Shawsgate is set in a beautiful location just outside Framlingham in Suffolk. You can take self-guided tours of the vineyard and pop into the shop to taste and buy their wines.
For a more in-depth vineyard experience you can join Food Safari at Shawsgate on July 11 and get hands-on helping out with whatever tasks need completing from pruning the vines to labeling a bottle or two. Visit www.foodsafari.co.uk
