It depends what you want from your butcher - if it's splendid marbled, tasty and properly hung beef, probably the best bacon in the world (and I mean that), hams that are to die for, succulent and tender pork, and chicken that is allowed to live longer than a couple of months so that it actually has the chance to taste like chicken then Ted's is the place to go.
If you want a bloke in a stripy apron a straw boater and a fancy bag to show off to your friends then it's probably not for you.
Having lived within walking distance of Steve Rossiter's shop in Birmingham we thought we were spoilt and that we'd never find a butcher to replace them but while Ted's may not be as slick an operation they deliver fantastic quality meat week in week out.
It's an amazing friendly family outing to see the farm, the animals (and the peacocks!), and Ted, Carol, Sue and everyone else that makes the place tick are brilliantly helpful and will bend over backwards to get you what you want.
Looking forward to my bacon sarnie tomorrow..
