The Isis Farmhouse is situated alongside the Thames, surrounded by ancient flood meadows which form a Site of Special Scientific Interest. There is no road to us - you (and we!) must walk, cycle, or come by boat. Once you're here, you can enjoy Oxfordshire beers (usually Appleford Brewery on draught, and about a dozen Oxfordshire bottled beers), wines (Brightwell Vinery) and lagers (Cotswold Brewing Company); home-made cakes, such as rhubarb crumble cake or apple cake; and two or three home-made, simple meals. Choice is always limited, so that we can focus on producing fresh, tasty, locally sourced food.
Stumbled across this great place on a spring walk at Easter - a biting day outside, hot scones and local beer inside, yum. An appropriately limited menu means not much choice, but excellent quality food along the lines of soup, stew, risotto - all homemade and delicious like the cakes.
Best thing: the rhubarb crumble cake
Worst thing: service sometimes a bit slow, but such lovely people it's hard to mind
