family owned business founded in 1847. owned by stephen cook 3rd generation butcher for last 30 years. specialists in locally sourced free range meats. besides fantastic retail food halls also supplies hotels , pubs , restaurants, schools, golf clubs and small retail outlets throughout west of england daily.
This is one of our very favourite shops and a great place to stock up the freezer. Not just a superb butcher - fantastic meat and perfect service - but also a great fishmonger; beautiful salmon fillets, swordfish steaks, haddock fillet etc etc. A good range of ewe's milk cheese as well as cows and goats. I love they way they raise their boaters in greeting. The staff have a great sense of humour too - even when they are busy, which they nearly always are. Tip - Arrive before 10am if you're visiting on a Saturday; it's easier to browse through all the interesting chutneys, sauces and lots of seasonal goodies round the edges of the shop. Quite a display at Christmas and Easter.
